Say WHAT? Remote vs. online classes

I have discovered over the past semester; some students do not realize that there is difference. So, let me help put your curiosity or minds at ease....

At Southwestern College, classes are generally taught F2F (Face to Face) in a classroom setting, Online or Hybrid (a combination of both Face to Face and Online). Due to COVID-19 Face to Face classes are currently being taught remotely during the designated class hour - for example M/W at 7:00 am - 8:25 am.

Instructors at Southwestern College have been given the flexibility to choose how they wish to instruct their "Face to Face" classes during "Remote" operations. This may encompass mandatory attendance during that class hour, no meetings at all, or occasionally. It is the instructor’s responsibility to notify you prior to the start of class as to how they will be teaching.

Regularly scheduled "Online" courses designated as 500 or 600 class - for example HLTH 101-501, are strictly online with no class meeting times. These classes are set up entirely online and you complete the course in a self-paced setting Sunday through Saturday each week.

"Normally REMOTE classes meet at a specific day and time vs ONLINE classes are FREE of set meeting times - However, Instructors have 3 options on how to teach REMOTE classes."

Per Southwestern College - Remote has three possibilities for instruction: Meets virtually for all hours posted in the schedule. Meets virtually for some of the hours posted in the schedule. Has no class meetings—all work is done online.
