What's Your Mindset?
TAKE A MOMENT TODAY AND ASK YOURSELF…
Are you setting yourself up for success or failure?
2020 was a difficult year for all of us due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Many students, family members, friends, co-workers etc. have battled the illness, some have lost their lives – others were thrown into chaos with the stay-at-home orders, loss of employment, stress, depression and more. All of that is not lost on any of us and consumes our thought process almost 24/7.
However, let us pause – and think back for a moment… can you picture yourself one year ago today – February 16, 2020 when the campuses were still open, and life was moving along. Did you take care of yourself? Did you get adequate sleep? Did you make sure and do your assignments and show up for class? Did each day have a purpose with a goal in mind? Did you strive to maintain your GPA? Or did you approach life with a mediocre attitude and didn’t really care?
Fast forward to 2021, and many of you now have had a year of staying at home, doing your studies online and possibly not holding yourself accountable for your daily actions. This includes not turning in your assignments, not taking college classes seriously, not taking care of yourself. While others, have approached this as an opportunity to “rebrand” themselves – make lemonade out of sour lemons. Using this time to study hard, rebuild relationships, and make a difference.
Although it may seem hard to believe, one day soon – we will once again experience life without COVID and/or learn how to live our daily lives with it. Our new norm will require being held responsible for our job tasks, college assignments, and more. Are you prepared?
What will your future hold at that point – will you be disciplined; will you go back to making a difference - will you strive to be the best you can be regardless of what you are doing?
Today, make a change – examine your mindset. Do not let this past year be an excuse or the reason you keep making excuses to yourself as to why or why you cannot. Sadly, life is full of surprises and this will not be the only time we are faced with adversity, hardships, and tough days – we must learn to adapt and not give up.
Change your mindset, focus on your assignments, focus on life, focus on your job, your goals, your family, your pets, whatever it may be - make each day count - meet your deadlines - be productive – and have a positive attitude!
Celebrate your achievements whether big or small - make your life matter.
- You can do this - I believe in you.
